This project was a small dwelling for an artist on a site in the west Bronx overlooking the Hudson River. The basic gist of the building is isolating the primary func- tions of living (Sleeping, Eating, Bathing) into isolated gabled forms suspended in a basin containing studio space. The whole mass is embedded into the hillside.

One particular detail is the location of a bench swing that is suspended below one of the volumes facing the base of the hill and down the slope of the River. This place of quiet contemplation is essential to anyone in the creative profession, as one of the best ways to be inspired is to be alone with one’s thoughts.
